Wells Next The Sea

Arrived in Wells after a steady crossing under power against a light southerly breeze.  Zigzu lifted her skirts as large swells which had built up from the North gently lifted stern We had watched Bull Fort and the DZ bouy's drift by before heading south past the Protector bouy, Inner Dowsing, Theddlethorpe overfalls.  There was a dredger "Pride of London" extracting sand and gravel by the Protector bouy but he was slowly moving away from our course and presented no problems.  Lots of seals everywhere.  We eventually anchored on Holkham Bay and awaited the tide.  Wells Bar is passable 2 hours either side of high water.  The approach seems to become more extenuated every time we come and the surf rolled over the bar either side as we pushed our way up the channel.  Now safely moored on the pontoon and suitably refreshed.
